Book Signings

This week has been a good one for signed books! On Wednesday, I drove down to Idaho Falls to attend a signing with Sarah M. Eden. She's one of my absolute favorite authors, so I always take the chance to go to her signings when she's in the area. I feel like an idiot though, because I found two more books at home in which she was a contributing author, and I didn't realize it. Now I will have to remember to take them to the next signing. I did get five additional books signed though, so that's always awesome!

Today, I went to a signing here in Rexburg with Sian Ann Bessey and Traci Hunter Abramson. I only had one book to be signed today, but it's one they collaborated on, so both signed. Everything else I have from these two authors is already signed, or is a kindle book. I also picked up some more book swag - magnets to complete my Georgian Gentlemen collection. Georgian Gentlemen is a series by Sian Ann Bessey that I really love.

In a couple of weeks, I'll head back down to Idaho Falls for another signing. This time, it's Sian Ann Bessey and Rachel Kelley Stones. Just one book for this one - Love Unseen by Rachel Kelley Stones. I read an advanced copy of it, and I loved it!

Also, I wasn't supposed to go into school today to work in my classroom, but I DID ANYWAY. I'm irritated with myself. I'm trying to set boundaries and I'm the one who breaks them! Ugh!!!

Book Review: An Unlikely Pair by Traci Hunter Abramson

Goodreads synopsis: After a family tragedy, aspiring ballerina Amaliya Marcell is adrift. When she is forced to leave behind everything she knows, the lost young woman struggles to build a new life in an unfamiliar city. But when she meets a handsome world-class figure skater, she finds a glimmer of hope.

After his sister’s unexpected retirement from figure skating, Tyler Linden is devastated to give up his shot at the US national championships. His only hope is to find a new partner, a task that proves nearly impossible—until he observes a beautiful young woman at the local ice rink.

Struck by her grace and poise, Tyler takes an unthinkable risk and asks Amaliya to become his new partner. To both of their surprise, she agrees. The path to the championship won’t be easy, but Amaliya and Tyler quickly establish a solid partnership and a profound connection—both on and off the ice. But competition at the championships is fierce, and when the time comes, they will be forced to put everything on the line if they hope to achieve their dreams.

This was my first book by Traci Hunter Abramson, but it certainly won’t be my last! I was a little hesitant at first, because semi-historical fiction really isn’t my thing. However, once I got a few chapters in, I was HOOKED. I loved the slow burn between Tyler and Amaliya, and I loved their friendship.

I enjoyed the chapters with Amaliya’s parents too. I need to read the prequel novella (Dancing to Freedom) for more on them. Their story sounds very sweet! I remember hearing about Russian people defecting back in the 80s, so this story sounds intriguing.

I think my favorite part, though, was the skating. I never miss figure skating when the Olympics are on and this really brought that thrill with it! It had tension, anticipation, and exhilaration. Really a great book. I’m definitely invested in this series! The next book can’t come out soon enough for me.

This is a sweet romance with no objectionable content. The book releases on June 7.
